Changelog
What changed, and when
Updated 5 November 2026
Every user-visible Sendant release, newest first. Each entry says what changed and what it means for you — the fixes included, not just the features.
Sendant ships to Android and iPhone from the same build. Dates below are the day a release entered the stores; where a release is still rolling out, the entry says so.
-
Finer disappearing timers, honest copy, and Message info
- Disappearing timers now offer 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 7 days, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days
- Every picker and chat header now says the timer covers the messages you send and starts when you send them
- Long-press any message to see Message info: when it was sent and exactly when it disappears, in chats and groups
Rolling out In TestFlight and on the Play internal track now; the App Store and Play production releases follow once review completes.
-
Resend tells you what is happening, and photo batches survive a crash
- Resend now tells you when the secure connection is still opening, the contact is blocked, or the photo/voice is no longer on this phone
- Photo batches now show a quick preview first, then the full image. Large photos and videos wait for an active call to finish instead of competing with the call
- Photo batches are saved on your phone before upload, so a crash or force-stop can't lose the whole batch. Interrupted photos show a retryable row instead of disappearing
- Messages left queued by a crash retry on reopen, even if you stay on the Chats list
- Large photos show a spinner while loading, and a just-sent photo retries instead of briefly saying “Photo unavailable”
-
Voice notes move to your ear when you hold the phone up
- Voice messages: hold the phone to your ear and the message moves to the earpiece at call volume, so only you hear it. Lower the phone and it carries on through the speaker. Headphones and Bluetooth are left alone
-
Calls use a connected Bluetooth headset, and What's New stops repeating
- Calls now play through a connected Bluetooth headset — both what you hear and your microphone — whenever the headset supports it. Output-only headsets are used for listening, with the phone's microphone
- Fixed: “What's New” no longer repeats the same release notes after every update
-
Calls can connect directly, and you decide whether they do
- Calls can now connect directly to the person you're talking to — faster to answer, and they no longer make a detour through our servers
- Because a direct call shows that person your IP address (roughly your city and internet provider, and only to them), Sendant asks you once which you'd rather have. If you were already routing calls through the relay, nothing changes until you say so
- Change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Hide my IP during calls, now available on iPhone as well as Android
- Fixed: a call could hang up on itself if the other person's network details arrived a moment late
- Fixed: video calls now honour their quality ceiling, instead of climbing until the network stopped them
- Fixed: the “Share to” screen drew its title underneath the status bar clock
- Fixed: if the secure connection with a contact ever broke, messages could keep showing “Sent” while they never arrived. Sendant now notices and repairs it on the next message you send, instead of needing both phones reset by hand
- Fixed: “Reset secure session” now actually replaces the session in use
-
Community Standards, stated plainly
- New: Community Standards — Sendant has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users, and everyone now agrees to the rules before using the app
- New: an on-device content filter hides likely-offensive incoming messages behind a tap. It runs on your phone, because we can't read your encrypted chats. Adjust it in Settings → Privacy & Security → Content filter
- New: Settings → Safety & Support — report abuse, block someone, or email a human at hello@sendant.io
- Reports are now read by a person within 24 hours; we remove the content and permanently eject whoever sent it
- Groups can now be reported from the group menu
-
Use Sendant in your browser, linked to your phone
- New: Link your phone to a browser — use Sendant on the web, end-to-end encrypted. Your phone stays in charge and can unlink a browser any time
- Manage linked browsers in Settings → Devices; browsers unlink automatically after 30 days without connecting
- Reactions now sync reliably across your devices
- Messages you send while offline now retry automatically when you reconnect
-
Your messages, contacts and keys are stored encrypted
- Your messages, contacts, and encryption keys are now stored encrypted on your device
- New: Send Feedback from Settings — end-to-end encrypted, and anonymous unless you ask for a reply
- Notifications: no more duplicate alerts, they now show even when your screen is locked, and reactions notify you too
- Tap links in messages — with an "Open this link?" check first
- Links you send now show a preview card, fetched privately by your device
- Verify any contact with a safety number — including people who added you from your invite link
- Fixes: camera capture on first use, and app upgrades no longer risk your chat history
-
Group chats for up to 16 people
- Group chats: create end-to-end encrypted groups with up to 16 people
- Reply with sender attribution, voice notes and photos in groups
- Replying by swipe now opens the keyboard right away
- Chats now open instantly at your latest messages — long chats no longer scroll from the top
- New: unread-messages divider and a jump-to-latest button
-
Edit and delete your own messages
- Add edit and delete controls for your own messages
- Latest private messaging fixes for internal testing
Something missing, or broken?
The changelog lists what shipped, not what is planned. If a change here does not behave as described, tell us the device and what you saw — feedback reaches the people who built it.
